Butterfly Art and a Grecian Fashion Show
Tonight, artist Conrad Booker will be unveiling his multi-part installation, “Metamorphosis” at Carmelita Couture with a reception from 5:30-8:30 p.m.
What’s so cool about Booker’s art instillation? Well, it’s made of thousands of butterflies created from recycled fashion magazines and soda cans.
His exhibit will be on view through August and at three locations. He’ll have another reception at Vintage Wine Bar on June 15 followed by a closing reception at Headhouse Square’s Shambles on July 28.
Then, tomorrow night, Opa, a new greek restaurant in Midtown Village, will be closing down Sansom St. to kick off Glendi, their new series of Thursday night fetes that will continue throughout the summer.
The event will create the vibe of a Grecian street fair with music by DJ Rahsaan and a fashion show featuring Carmelita Couture’s summer collections as well as some fashions from Matthew Izzo and Rock and Soul Apparel.
The models will also be walking down the runway with Nahui Ollin’s candy wrapper handbags and footwear by Bus Stop Boutique along with shades provided by Modern Eye. Hair and makeup will be provided by Follicle Studio, Charlie Salon and Susan Sorrell Makeup.
