Stuff We Love: WhiteKnot.org
In case we weren’t marriage-heavy enough this week with the best Sesame Street clip ever, here’s something to consider if you’ll be tying the knot soon.

WhiteKnot.org is the website for White Knot for Equality, a non-profit organization founded in response to the passing of Prop 8 and bans on same-sex marriage and denial of equal rights for members of the LGBT community. The White Knot symbol takes two of the most recognizable symbols of marriage—white and tying the knot—and combines them into a proud display of a belief in basic human rights and an invitation to conversation.
We found out about this through a friend’s wedding photos. He and his wife donned white knots while rocking the typical white dress and tux combo on their wedding day. Supporters are encouraged to wear ‘em whenever and wherever, but the idea of rocking them while actually saying marriage vows is inspired. You can order one for free by clicking here. The site also has lots of helpful lists about why marriage matters. (An important fact we’d never considered: When a spouse dies, there’s no need to prove ownership of every item in the household for taxable purposes. Think of all the stuff you own jointly with your roommate/partner. Imagine having to prove why you should own it.)
Philly’s already listed among supporting cities on the site, but there’s no reason why you shouldn’t be rocking your own white ribbon. Unless you’re not into equal rights. In which case, no complaining about taxes or any other governmental policy ever again.
Jack Black Is Jesus …
… in a hilarious musical video about Prop 8. The video features tons of stars (including NPH, Margaret Cho, Maya Rudolph and John C. Reilly) and is just all-around awesome. Embedded below the jump.
