Big In Japan

gallery_main-Whitney-Port-Elle-Girl-Japan-0125104For a look at red carpet looks from the SAG Awards, check out Glamour’s recap. Rachel Zoe has a guide with 20 Not-So-Basic Wardrobe pieces. The LA Times has a recap of the drama that’s gone down between Rachel Zoe and her former assistant Taylor Jacobson.

We came across this blog: Kitten Lounge. We love that they have themes for what they feature every day – last week there were posts on lemon colored accessories, and Sunday there was a post on bringing spring into your home. This post features one of our loves, Gerbera Daisies, so we were fans from first glance.

According to US Magazine, Kourtney Kardashian is calling foul in regards to OK! Magazine’s statements about her post pregnancy body, further proving that photo shopping is out of control. It reminds us of that questionable picture of Demi Moore that W Magazine had on their cover a few months back.

NY TimesBill Cunningham has spotted critters on NYC streets in the form of hats and other accessories. His observations are always so intriguing, though we haven’t run into him on his bicycle yet. We’re also big fans of NY TimesStyle Magazine’s web layout. It doesn’t even matter what they’re covering, it’s gorgeous.

Lastly, The City’s Whitney Port is big in on the other side of the globe. Pretty cool to see her on the pages of Elle Girl Japan.

Keepin It Real?

Pamela-Anderson-25As a reminder dear reader, Pam Anderson will be in town this weekend. As we mentioned before, she’ll be at a local Rite Aid as well as Parx 360. Is she a has been or is she just trying to keep it real?  You decide.

January continues to be the month of deals with these great buys: Cheap Chicas recommends this emerald dress as well as this boyfriend blazer. Just as a reminder, Cheap Chicas creator and NBC10 correspondent Liliana Vazquez will be guest blogging for Lucky Magazine’s website from January 25th – 29th. Drugstore.com also has Bare Minerals as a lower price. Nice.

While it’s not as much of a steal, Rachel Zoe recommends fringed jewelery that can ‘drape a million different ways.’

You can also help Haiti by eating at restaurants in Conshohocken.

Why Are You So Obsessed With Me?

An e-mail was just sent out by Glamour.com claiming that nude nail polish is the next big thing.

“I hate to tell snowy white-polish lovers this, but it’s no longer numero uno on the neutral nail-polish list. Nope, right now it’s all about nude nail polish—something we predicted would be big a few months ago and has finally begun showing up on the red carpet.”

Glamour suggests these colors from Spa Ritual and Butter. We’re just not sure how we feel about this ‘nude’ color nail polish. We’re indecisive enough at the nail salon, without the pressure of keeping up with trends. It’s sort of silly that we obsess over whether or not the shade of polish we pick sticks with certain trends, but we find it super nerve wracking when the manicurist says ‘pick a color!’ Really. For now we’re thinking of sticking with Real Beauty’s metallic recommendations.

Another area of obsession: lip balm. This winter has been brutal. There are lots of chapsticks/lip balms out there, but we find that when our lips get really chapped, only Neosporin Lip Health will do. Normally, Nivea, Carmex, Rosebud Salve, Burt’s Bees and regular old Vaseline do the trick, but when things get really bad, Neosporin is the only guy we turn to. Rachel Zoe recommends Sugar Lip treatment by Fresh, which sounds  like we might want to try it since it has an exfoliator element and we love scrubs.

Daily Candy is highlighting these little straps that will perk up your boots, and Avenue of the Arts is gearing up to put planters along Broad Street. It’s part of their 5-Year plan to “Improve and Beautify the Streetscape,” so keep your eyes peeled!

Since tonight marks not only the end of the year but the end of the decade, there are some decade reviews out there, including this one that NBC10 put together – A Decade in Dressing.

Marie Claire has tips on how to keep your New Year’s resolutions. Cosmopolitan has ideas on what to do and what not to do on New Year’s Eve, and assuming you still have time to run around and get a dress, iVillage has posted 10 Ways to Dress for New Year’s Eve.

Lastly, these Rachel Zoe suggests the cute glasses to the left toast in the new year. If only she suggested them earlier, we’re thinking if we order online, it won’t get to us in the next 30 minutes. Sigh…HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Maybe It’s Much Too Early In The Game, But I Thought I’d Ask You Just The Same

With New Year’s Eve just around the corner, it’s time to crank up the sparkle quotient. Rachel Zoe thinks so too, she’s suggesting false eyelashes to help you out. As always, Rachel has a Parallel Universe suggestion that won’t break the bank. This one is from Sephora.

We mentioned before that we J’Adore Dior and this lip glow might be just the sparkle you want to outshine that Waterford Crystal thing that helps bring in the new year.

After all your New Year’s Eve partying, Paula Deen’s Percolator might be just what you need.

To keep you entertained at the office until quitting time on the 30th, I Heart Daily has roundups of the best beauty posts of the past year as well as the top entertainment posts. Whitney Port of The City and The Hills also recently posted 14 different looks for her 14 Days of Fashion. Even though she’s model gorgeous there’s still something endearing about her. Glamour has a list of Top 10 Most Memorable Red Carpet Moments of 2009. Enjoy!

Textured tights are a pick that don’t seem to be going away anytime soon. We’re glad that Rachel Zoe is a fan along with us, even if her favorites are a bit out of our price range. At $1195, we’re surprised they don’t have magical powers. We can’t imagine how mad we’d be if we got a run in those babies. Luckily, there are some tights that are just as cute and won’t do as much damage to your wallet. Victoria’s Secret has their Semi-Annual sale prices online, and that includes tights. Since it’s Vikki’s, some of them are sexy. Woo-hoo!

If you aren’t into sexy lists, look no further than iVillage’s list of ugly sweaters. They also have a list of dresses that flatter every shape if you’re still looking for a new years or holiday party dress.

I Heart Daily shares their love of female drummers, and Daily Candy has more last minute ideas. Phew! We were getting nervous since we’re not done shopping yet. Marie Claire has suggestions for staying in style while you travel. We’re big fans of the bracelets they’re featuring, pictured to the left.

Cyber Monday

This rainy Monday is perfect for Cyber Monday. We spy deals around every corner: Ann Taylor, Tory Burch, Ulta, Express, Victoria’s Secret, and The Limited, Amazon, Radio Shack, Bloomingdales, Adidas and even the Apple Store have deals as well. Careful, you could do a lot of damage right from your chair!

We stumbled upon Max and Chloe, which has some great baubles, bangles and beads just in time for the holidays as well as some Cyber Monday Deals. Rachel Zoe has even found some great deals with her list of 20 glam gifts under $100.

This past weekend, I went into holiday baking mode and cranked out these little guys:

15566_732753538953_8200237_41930033_6551252_nThey’re based on this Pillsbury recipe, and I think they are so cute! However, judging from the cover of December’s W Magazine, it doesn’t look like Demi Moore has been noshing on any goodies.

Rumors are surrounding December’s cover, which landed on our doorstep this past weekend.  One is that W staffers got rid of Demi’s left hip while others argue that staffers replaced Demi’s entire body. Demi took to Twitter and stated that the picture is indeed her, while countless articles, including this one from the Toronto Star argue that the picture is more illustration than photograph. Has Photoshop really gone to far? Should the photo credit read ‘illustration by,’ especially since the photographer doesn’t believe the photo is really Demi?

Update: Cyber Monday coupon codes from iVillage.
