Andrew Zangerle at Art Star

The Big Sea

Philadelphia artist Andrew Zangerle will be taking over the walls of Art Star from October 16-November 21. His collection includes 100 hand painted wood signs with words on them that, according to the artist, “have no particular meaning and attempt to communicate nothing.” Some choice words from the collection include “Yup” and “Chicken.” The Big Sea is Zangerle’s first solo show in Philadelphia, though you may have caught some of his work at various arts and crafts events under the name he’s been using for the past four years, The Maple Ridge.

The Big Sea is all about words and it’s as simple as that. Now that’s something this writer can get on board with.

The Big Sea opening reception is Saturday, October 16th, from 5-8 p.m and will include live music by Olive Juice.
