Oh Hells Yes: Project Runway To Return This Summer
Joyous news! After months of litigation, money hungry TV execs have finally come to an agreement over reality supershow Project Runway. The show will air on the Lifetime network this summer. Entertainment Weekly has all the legal jargon and press quotes from bigwigs like Harvey Weinstein, if you’re into that sort of thing. Personally, I’m just into this video from season two. Maybe Daniel Franco will triumphantly return in season six. What? A girl can dream, can’t she?
Buh-bye Bryant Park
Today’s New York Times reports that this may be the last year Fashion Week takes place at Bryant Park. According to Eric Wilson’s report, organizers are expected to announce the twice-annual, seven-day fashion event’s move to the Lincoln Center.
So, what does this say about the sanctity of Fashion Week? I have no idea. Will there still be tents? There HAVE TO BE TENTS!
But I do know that hearing Tim Gunn use “Lincoln Center” as a taunt for budding Project Runway designers is way less intimidating than “Bryant Park.”
Are You In or Out?: A Project Runway Preview
So much Project Runway drama and this season hasn’t even started yet.
First there’s the fact that this is the last season the show will be on Bravo. (In case you’ve been living under a rock for the past three months, the show was sold to the Lifetime network. I know, gag me.) Then there’s Nina Garcia’s controversial switch from Elle to Marie Claire. (Did she resign? Was she fired? Does anyone besides the Gawker army even give a fuck?) And then there’s yesterday’s website updates.
Bravo.com released bios of this season’s contestants along with synopses of each episode (revealing each week’s guest judge). The bios, we’re down with. But the synopses? WTF, Bravo? Isn’t the whole thrill of reality show competitions rooted in the “they have to do WHAT?!” reflex reaction when a challenge is announced? We’re too infuriated to check ‘em out right now, but here’s our at-first-glance opinions about this season’s contestants.
