Why Shouldn’t Tampons Be More Like Friends?
Have you ever been sitting on the toilet and though to yourself, “I sure could use a few words of encouragement right now?”
No? Just me?
Well, either way, when it’s that time of the month, I think most ladies would appreciate a quirky, empowering message scrolled across their tampon. Sorta like a feminist fortune cookie, but without the cookie (but can you imagine if they had a mini candy bar inside??).
My friend in L.A happened to find these unique pooter pluggers at her work the other day and I immediately felt compelled to track them down.
It turns out they’re created by Dittie, a new brand of feminine protection products devoted to removing the shame and embarrassment that far too often comes with menstruation. On their Web site, there’s a forum where girls can submit their own “ditties” as well as various period-related tales and advice.
Unfortunately, their products are currently only available in California and with a pack of 20 regular tampons starting at $25, they’re not really worth buying online.
Personally, having now had over a decade to embrace my cycle, I really don’t feel the need to shell out extra cash on cutesy cooter corks. But they’re cool idea.
Plus, anything that’s going to make bleeding every month a little less traumatic for a 12 year-old girl, I’m all for.
Anyone have any good “ditties” to share?
