Air Jordan on the wishlist

When it comes to Philadelphia style, this city has always had a sweet spot for sneakers. With this in mind, the release of the newest Air Jordans are a definite fashion event and tomorrow two of Philly’s most well-known sneaker boutiques will be joining in the craze. Ubiq is unveiling the newest Air Jordans at 11 a.m. and Abakus Takeout will be hosting an Air Jordan sample sale from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. Abakus gives us a sneak peek at their goods below:
The shopping season is in full swing and the sneaker craze is holding its own so we suggest you arrive at both stores early in order to make some Air Jordan holiday dreams come true.
Style your sole

Apparently getting your kicks drawn on by artists is the new thing. Ubiq and Converse got together for a Paint your own Chucks back in May and now Bus Stop Boutique is hopping in line. Thursday September 16 customers can purchase their own natural or ash Toms Classics and have local graffiti artist Samske and his artist crew get wild all over their philanthropic canvas uppers. There will also be music by DJ Akshun, cupcakes from the Buttercream Cupcake Truck and Tom Collins for those of you who enjoy imbibing while shopping.
Paint Your Own Chucks

Since the dawn of the Sharpie marker, the urge to draw on jeans, backpacks, shoes and anything else fabric has been unstoppable. In middle school a pair of tennis shoes got the ink pen artist treatment during an especially boring session of science class and in high school all of my sports duffle bags were adorned with cartoon characters created by yours truly.
Saturday, starting at 1 p.m., be 13 again at UBIQ’s Paint Your Own Chucks Event. Attendees can either jump into the heaps of art supplies provided by UBIQ and make their own unique pair of Chucks or have one of the artists that will be on hand whip up something fancy on their new kicks. White Chuck Taylors will be available for purchase in-store and there will be food and music provided to keep the painting party going all afternoon.
If you are an artist interested in participating in this event contact UBIQ at 215-988-0154.
Phillies VANS
12 Vans Phillies opening day packs (shoes + jersey) will be at Ubiq on Walnut St. as of 11am next Monday. Woo! Slightly confused as to why they’ll be in next Monday, as the Phillies already opened their season all over the Nationals two days ago (EDIT: Duh because it’s the home opener Monday, this is what you get for writing posts sleepy), but I’ll take it. These were made specifically for Ubiq, and they won’t be available anywhere else.

Mercurial stock
Wow, these are enough to make a girl buy a completely white pair of sneakers, even though the only way to keep them looking good in the snowy meltmuck that is Philly right now would be to hover several feet above the pavement. The Ubiq on Walnut has the Jeremy Scott Wings for Adidas back in stock (probably only for a bit, though).
