An e-book worth reading
I’ve been reading some books online today, and it’s not so bad, really. I still think they’re somewhat evil, and that everyone should regularly go to the library—or at the very least a bookstore—but I admit it’s convenient to peek into something during the day when I need to, especially for work.
My latest discovery is Depression: A Primer, by Ellen. It’s quite charming and informative, and a good, funny read even if you know what depression is already.
I depart from her point of view in three ways:
1. I disagree with her characterization of ECT as “safe and effective.”
2. I don’t believe God has anything to do with it.
3. I think her focus on Cognitive Behavior Therapy is unhelpful for people suffering major depression.
That being said, you should check it out. It’s endearing.

what i most want to know is whether you say “prime-er” or “primmer.” i never heard of “primmer” until i was in my 30s, and then i had to feel embarrassed in that particular way that mispronunciation makes you feel. (which is the same as the embarrassment you feel when someone else mispronounces).
like i still have to hear from my family about how i pleaded (pledded?) for a miniature “meemo” book, the kind that looks like a shrinky-dinked composition book with the hard covers and the pseudo-jersey-cow-camo pattern. well, i was just using logic, having read about captain nemo and his underwater voyages…how was i to know it was an abbreviation?

pps and when you mispronounce then you sometimes overcompensate, which is why i am completely unable to say the word “architecture” without pausing to gather my wits. it has to do with once have been mocked for saying “pitcher” instead of “pick-tyur.” man i won’t do that again, even when i should!
pps i was about to apologize for straying from the topic of mental health but then realized this is on topic demonstratively at least. well it’s clonazepam time, g’night! i’ll take calls twelve hours from now.
