Windy city shitty

A mentally ill woman from California who’d arrived at the Midway Airport in Chicago was disruptive, and was arrested by city police. She was transferred to a different facility overnight, and then released in a bad neighborhood in a city that was unfamiliar to her. Her family’s phone calls to authorities—explaining her condition and requesting psychiatric consideration—went unheeded, and the 21-year-old was abducted, sexually abused and then fell out of a window of a housing project. Now her family is suing the city for $100 million, while the young woman remains in critical condition in a Chicago hospital.
The police department hasn’t been exactly breezy about wrapping this up. The family offered a statement that read, in part, “We expect the Police Department’s administration to end the silence regarding the investigation and to speak out for the interests of the mentally ill. None of us should expect anything less.”

Liz, I am 28 and I am not a mental Jane Fonda, but trust me, I heard it and you are lucky not to be able to hear this annoying, screeching drone! It is horrible!
This is a travesty – beyond that. It could have been me as I was in a similar circumstance once. I just can’t imagine what they were thinking, not admitting her to a hospital, after the night of detainment.
