Through a lens starkly

I don’t know, I don’t know. What have I done? I went to get new glasses, and I noticed that the least expensive were vintage frames. I liked the idea of having frames no one else had, and I decided to get them. Now I’m feeling like I made a mistake. I mean, one wears one’s glasses all the time. They define one’s face. In my quest to be funky and original, have I erred and simply chosen to be freakish? Some personalities can get away with bold frames. Perhaps I’m not that kind of personality. Despite my qualms, I’ll be wearing them for the next four days as a test. Let me know your thoughts.

And don’t worry about being too honest. When I got to work I asked my co-worked if he’d go to Dunkin Donuts with me. “Sure, but can your glasses go too?” Oh, ha ha. Funny office humor.

LS,

You look absolutely adorable in your new specs! Remember retro is always in. And it’s great to be unique.

I think your glasses are great. I always have a hard time adjusting to new glasses, especially when they’re a little out there. My attitude is that you wear your glasses everyday, you should like them and feel that they reflect your personality.

Awful. You’re so beautiful, gorgeous hair, great skin, pretty mouth (this is not a come on). Funky clothes, yes. These frames do not suit you at all.

i’m going to have to go with a no as well. you’re adorable in your other glasses (both hip and serious), but these are not working. the color’s too intense and the shape doesn’t work on your face. two thumb’s down.

Hope you have the receipt. I vote no.

Yergh I’m going to have to vote no as well. I like both your other pairs I think they really suit you. These ones don’t seem you-ish. tc

personally- i like them. but, sometimes people just want to lurk in the shadows instead of being in the light all the time. i would have a spare, basic frame floating around sometimes for when you dont want all the attention those (beautiful) glasses will bring.

Those specs make you look like you were cast as Catwoman in a revival of the campy Batman series from the 60’s.

To me that’s a good thing, but your milage may vary.

Liz(z)! I myself tried to get a pair of vintage frames pretty recently but couldn’t find any that didn’t seem like “a bit too much”. It’s a tough thing to pull off–I think the color is too bright for you. What does your mother say? There’s your test, right there.

Eeeeeeek. No.

Oh, dear. This isn’t good. Bobbie, you know what my mom would say. I’m not even going over there.

What a funny, funky, who gives a shit kindof gal you are! Love the attitude, and the glasses. I’m glad I was sent this site. Keep on keeping on!

The reddish tone ones you wear on the blog I think are more flattering. My current glasses are very iffy. If you feel iffy about these, think twice. But they are pretty cool.

Nice specs. Keep smilin’.

Oh sweetie no. Why draw all the attention to your glasses when you have such a beautiful, beautiful face?

Sarah Says:

I <3 them, but I already told you that.

Just remember that snarky office comments are just that — snarky office comments. They don’t count in the real world :-)

Am going to have to side with the “nos” on the glasses. You are way too lovely to hide behind such big frames. Besides, some less outside-the-box types might not take you seriously when you want to be. Keep the “hip” ones as a back up if you do purchase the blue.

phillyd Says:

I say no. Perhaps something more subdued. Your features are wonderful and your glasses ought to take second seat. That’s my vote!

Kent Says:

You look beautiful in this picture, but I think you look better in glasses with frames that are straight on top, instead of sweeping upwards towards the corners. I think either one of the other two pairs of glasses would look pretty good.
