I have no idea who Amy Sky is, but according to this article, she’s a beloved Canadian singer-songwriter. Sky suffered postpartum depression twice — both time with psyhcotic features. When her third episode of depression hit, she finally got help. Now she’s outspoken about her troulbes, which can only be a good thing for people who actually know who she is.

Liz Spikol was born in Philadelphia sometime in the 20th century. She started writing about her experience as a person with mental illness in 1999, while employed at Philadelphia Weekly as the paper’s managing editor. Aside from serving as that paper’s web editor, music editor, staff writer, senior editor, executive editor and a host of other random roles that she couldn’t make up her mind about, she has also worked as a Spanish teacher, as a Certified Peer Specialist during Philly’s system-wide transformation and as a communications specialist for a prison reform organization. Currently, she works at the Mental Health Association of Southeastern Pennsylvania and writes book reviews for PW. This blog — named one of the Top 10 Bipolar Blogs of 2007 and 2008 by PsychCentral — is about medications, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, OCD, PTSD, SAD (and many other acronyms), mad pride, Big Pharma, celebrities, hospitals, stigma and the recovery movement. Happened upon your blog and glad to be included.The CAMH campaign for which I was a spokesperson is part of a drive to raise funds to build a truly accessible centre where people can go for mental health treatment without stigma, or darting in a side door for fear of being seen. I am not known much in the States as a singer, but I have written produced part or all of Olivia Newton Johns last cds. GRACE AND GRATITUDE is intended to provide healing and relaxing music, to aid th calming of mind body and spirit. CHRISTMAS WISH which will be at TARGET in November has a similar intention- reflective and calming music for the holiday season which can be stressful!
