UMbrella.jpg

When it’s raining out and I have to take an umbrella with me, I worry that I’ll leave it somewhere — like in a doctor’s office, or on the trolley. So I force myself to chant: “UM-brella, UM-brella, brella brella UM” over and over again. Sometimes I mix it up, and put the emphasis on “brella,” but that’s rare.

[Isn't this girl lovely? She's lebonbonmulticolore, and she's from Montreal, which I hope means she has a cute French-Canadian accent.]

I think I might have this problem also if I lived in a wet climate. Luckily my only need for any kind of head covering usually just involves concerns over melanoma, which is of little relevance in the near term. If I ever move to a wet place, I think I’ll remember that umbrella chant.

Regarding the phrase “if my head wasn’t attached I would forget it”- I often chant “cere-BELL-um”.
I tell people it is my mantra and they let me be.
