Happy Monday to you, and suicide in prison!

Isn’t that a nice way to start your day? But seriously, the Boston Globe is doing a three-part series on prison suicide that’s really compelling. You can read parts I and II today. Here’s the link.
If that’s not quite what you had in mind for this morning, hop on over for a Cute Fix at Disapproving Rabbits, a site that’s so funny to me, I bought the book.
As for the rest of the day, I’ll be in training and won’t have access to a computer. But any comments or articles you leave on the site will be posted this evening.

Uncredibly cute. It reminded me instantly of “Bunnies Committing Suicide,” a brilliant and unexpectedly funny cartoon book. Here’s a You Tube link for a taste, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=it5XLFMl9Cc
This article makes my blood run cold. How could I avoid suicide if I ever went to prison, since it takes all the professional help I can find to avoid suicide as a free citizen?
I’ll never forget seeing three police cars and at least 6 Cincinnati cops surround an “escapee” from a mental hospital. There was plenty of screaming, but it was all from the cops. The man just stood there. He was in his sixties, didn’t appear to know where he was, and was eventually stopped in his tracks by a taser. To me the Globe article is not only an inditement of the prison system for the mentally ill, it speaks volumes about the creation of hardened criminals within the system and an outrageously high recidivism rate.
