This was a tough one. I went back and forth and back and forth for months. I evaluated the possible strengths and weaknesses of all the potential candidates and examined my own motives. Finally, after a long week of sleepless nights and distracted days, I finally pulled the lever (well, actually pushed the little green button) for Rob McCord for treasurer. I also voted for Obama. Although I am starting to feel that Hillary would have been a slightly stronger candidate in November, I don’t think she can win the nomination and it’s time for the primaries to end so that Democrats can really focus on what a poor president McCain would be. Let’s be honest, Rob McCord would be a better president that McCain.

From the turnout in Pa I would say everyone in Pa must have read your post. Very clever.

Dearest Liz:
I try to stay away from politics unless they are related to mental health on my personal blog. But since the flood gates are open here. I will advocate to an opposition view point and surely take the heat for it. I’m not telling or asking for anyone to totally agree with me, but I am putting out a personal opinion.

I guess I will put it this way, I not absolutely sure who I’m voting for this time around. Let’s see, I have a choice between two far left democrats, and a moderate democrat that keeps telling me he’s a republican in sheep’s clothing); but I am quite sure who I’m not voting for {laughing}. I’m not going to go on some protracted political rant here. Mainly because I’m on my first cup of morning Java Joe and my mind hasn’t got to that unburied productive state yet. But then I possibly will if the coffee kicks in some time during this process.

But as far as Gas prices goes, you know as many truckers do trying to scrape out a living; some people don’t have much of a choice when it comes to using fossil fuels. It’s a hard fact of their everyday lives. I’ve heard too many Washington snake oil sales man talk from Washington DC for far too long about alternative fuel sources, energy independence, and such; yet I haven’t seen a whole lot of change in reality. Sometimes double speak is just that. Tell people what they want to hear, and then go about business as usual.

I only ask the Political correctness crowd doesn’t go on one of those sacrificial rants about telling me I can’t have my cigarettes, beer, and wine next because they are just see through the thin window dressing of the anti-consumption band wagon (They already tax the Holy —- out of it. You know if I wanted that, I could become a monk in almost any country on earth, But this is America damn it). I have heard more than enough of that ranting babble in California to make me already feel like a leper and pariah standing on the side walk outside taking pot shots from the very same people driving by with Hummers acting like they were environmental friendly tree huggers. Of course each of us as citizens of this great land have a personal responsibility to tackle some of these problems that government is to bureaucratic and tainted to do anything about. I believe that why so many of us have decided to join the blog movement. Too many of our rational voices are just not being heard or listened too.

I haven’t seen a single candidate talk about the mental health system in any substantive way so far in the election process. Of course when you running around like a chicken with its head cut off collecting millions of dollars in campaign funds from Big Pharmaceutical and the Medical Corporate Giants (some actually espouse to not doing this type of campaign fund raising, and yet look deeply into their political records in the senate and you’ll find they all get some form or another of special interest funding); it’s a little tough to bite the hand that is feeding you. Don’t you get a little sickened fist in your gut feeling the same thing is happening with big oil companies? It’s a lot of the same old story, follow the money and eventually you stumble onto the ugly truth. It’s a little difficult to twist the arm of those fat cats in Washington, when they know exactly who is buttering their bread for them. So it’s all comes down to broad sweeping ideological arguments and generalities when election time rolls around once again. You end up trying to vote for the least of all evils, instead of having meaningful choice that could really create change and meet head on the so many important issues we as a nation have to face in the near and not so distant future.

I could sit and write for hours just on the wars we are in, and the not so much about the hypocrisy of the wars we are fighting, but the wars we are not! Why in all logical and rational thinking would we pull troops out of countries or areas that in all likelihood are next target on this war upon terrorism? Sure Iran comes to mind right off the top of everyone’s head! But remember Saudi Arabia is probably doing more to fund radical Islam ideological based thinking around the world, and is maybe even more dangerous than Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan combined. Yet we play paddy cake with them to keep that precious oil faucet flowing. Talk about hypocrisy! (I think we are all aware where Bin Laden and most of the 911 terrorist were from). These are pertinent national security issues none of the Washington gang really want or care to talk about, because their hands are tied behind their back by huge corporate influence. Don’t you think that if Pakistan were truly allied with us, we would have a complete green light to go in and end Al-Qaida and the Taliban once and for all? I see lots of gamesmanship being played over the passing years, but how about the true philosophy of war itself. I believe the basic concept you accomplish is to demoralize and defeat your enemy totally and completely at all cost. They are more than willing to make this a thousand year holy war. Are any of us really ready for that type of subtended campaign on either an economic or physiological level?

I know if we took this same half ass approach during world war two; that war still might be raging on today into a complete and unadulterated stalemate. I do strongly agree on one primal thought, we all must make informed choices when it comes to election time. It’s all a matter of how we get informed, and what that information really means in the larger scheme of things. Where’s Winston Churchill that great bipolar mind when we need him {laughing}

I’m not surprised at all that Penn went the way it did; the writing was plastered all over the wall. Obama is finally down off his pedestal and having his associates with some savory characters aired and questioned at great length; plus that whole rant he did on small town America’s values in of all places San Francisco ( The hot bed of super leftist anarchist pinky liberal America is the enemy thinking) . Once more they have gone and isolated the very people they espouse to fight for and represent. It’s seems they can never quite get their act together; which I’m absolute sure is what every American is hoping for in our next president {smirk}. But the primus that just being black or a minority is enough to scope up votes and the White House sounds a little absurd to me whether you’re a Republican, Democrat, or an Independent.

I know if I was running against the democrats; I would just keep my mouth shut, stick to generally accepted board sweeping positions, and watch the democrats implode as usual. They now control Congress and the Senate and we all can see the great work those reprehensive morons are doing for the everyday Joe in terms of legislation and action. It’s the same old double speak coming straight from the posterior of the privileged few (I guess you could say we have another internal gas crisis in Washington DC which needs desperately some alternative resource expenditures specified to it {laughing}).

I can see in my crystal ball some out of control inflation trickling down this mountain of Bandini manure to create not only a recession of great proportions. But it’s within the realm of possibilities that we all could experience a total economic meltdown. Government has always been known for their renowned tunnel vision in this department. You can’t just keep printing money like a drunken sailor, cut interest rates to record low levels, spend like you’re a manic bipolar in a market full of bright and shiny things, except huge bail outs from foreign interest, and not suffer the dire consequence at some point. I’m sorry and saddened to say we have a lame duck president that is now paying back all those favors he owed to get to that high and mighty office (pretty much business as usual in the White House whether you’re a Dem or Rep walking inevitably toward your new presidential library, and a pristine future on the speaking tour, corporate payroll, and government dole {DUH}).

It’s so Ironic that just the other day the department of home land security admitted the twenty plus million dollars they spent on this virtual fence at the border doesn’t work, and they are now in the process of wasting more money to see if they can get some of the kinks out. My God, You had to know or assume that even though some 80% of the general electorate wanted and demanded secure borders, Those brainiacs in Washington would find away to scuttle the will of the people.

Again it goes back to follow the all mighty money gravy train. Both parties have a vested interest in keeping that cheap labor force flowing in, no matter what the cost to society, and what we used to call America jobs (I have heard rumors that Congress is going to pass a guest worker program with the sole intent of hiring them to protect our borders, Now finally some good old fashion common sense coming out of Washington D C {laughing my _SS off}).

It’s bad enough we have bought into this whole one world economy and have sent millions of our better paying jobs overseas to China, India, Japan, and a myriad of other countries soon to be industrialized giants for higher profit margins, and to blissful mega Wall Street share holders counting up their bags full of well stolen cash, and manipulated profit taking at our expense.

We all saw what out of control speculation did in the great silicon bust, the enormous fictional created energy crisis of black outs created out of greed for billions in profit, the irrational savings and loan debacle, the recent mortgage crisis scam of monumental proportions, and as many have read in the news, they are now even rationing rice sales at some of our grocery retail giants.

Now at some invisible and imaginary line they are going speculate and drive the market beyond its capacity to recover on everything from oil, rice, wheat, and who knows what else they have up their con man sleeves. If I have learned nothing else as a Bipolar; I have learned without doubt, what goes up beyond realistic boundaries, eventual does come crashing down. I have always believed if you give certain persons enough power and influence, they will without any doubt abuse that power they have been given ( I hate being a kill joy and pointing out the virtues of our lesser human nature {laughing}).

Should you and I as Mr. or Mrs. Joe Average American been concerned and dumbfounded over this looming catastrophe of substantial personal and national consequences? I would have to say the answer is a firm and strident YES; we need to keep our eyes wide open, and our hands tightly grasping our ever shrinking wallets. Maybe we can just hand our financial economic crisis over to the United Nations and grab our Ankles tightly with a big smile for that ever wanted one world currency and loss of national sovereignty {smirk}. Anywise, that’s what I thinking! If you happen to be getting a nice warm feeling right now; don’t be too concerned or dismayed, it’s probably just a little smoke and hot air being redirected up your –SS {laughing}.
I would never tell anyone to vote a particular way or for one candidate over another. But I do say that we all should be well informed and make the best choice we can. Our great Nation’s future is truly riding on it.
Yours truly
Stan

Mary Powers Says:

I thought this was supposed to be about mental illness and now it is turning into a political..vote for Obama…thing. You really disappoint me..using America’s problems to take control of her. That is totally sneaky and underhanded which is why I would not vote for Obama.

Am I mentally ill? You bet I am when it comes to defending my country from nit-pickers and fault finders who fail to see that the freedom we have here provides us with the necessary tools to change things without a leader who talks big talk about ‘change’ when he could care less about the country he wants to take over.

God Bless America!
