I know I’m slightly dense but I don’t see the humor in it…
Don’t wanna live, Sad and lonely, no, no
So go get a rock and just stone me, woah oh
Have mercy on me it’s the end don’t you see?
Kill me now, oh, kill me now
You’ve ruined my life, don’t defend it, no, no
Just go get a a knife, and please end it, woah oh
Have mercy on me it’s the end don’t you see?
Kill me now, oh, kill me now
The fire begins as a spark
Next thing you know the whole world is in flames
Next thing you know it’s always the same, always the same
You think I’m strong but I’m not
you can take me
Can’t watch it die not our love
please don’t make me
Have mercy on me it’s the end don’t you see?

Ok, now that I see the lyrics there, and yes I think it’s kind of funny. THey sound like John Cale era Velvet Underground which if those guys are your influence, forget it, its going to be dark. It’s funny because it’s juxtaposed (there’s that word again) against that hummable music in three part harmony and is sung by three really smart looking chicks (I think anyway, its pretty dark there) who obviously know that this isn’t to be taken seriously. It’s just another expression of the human condition. Kill me now (not really). Dave

Liz Spikol was born in Philadelphia sometime in the 20th century. She started writing about her experience as a person with mental illness in 1999, while employed at Philadelphia Weekly as the paper’s managing editor. Aside from serving as that paper’s web editor, music editor, staff writer, senior editor, executive editor and a host of other random roles that she couldn’t make up her mind about, she has also worked as a Spanish teacher, as a Certified Peer Specialist during Philly’s system-wide transformation and as a communications specialist for a prison reform organization. Currently, she works at the Mental Health Association of Southeastern Pennsylvania and writes book reviews for PW. This blog — named one of the Top 10 Bipolar Blogs of 2007 and 2008 by PsychCentral — is about medications, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, OCD, PTSD, SAD (and many other acronyms), mad pride, Big Pharma, celebrities, hospitals, stigma and the recovery movement. And other stuff.
