New Jerseyans have been told so much for so long with so little of that constantly represented being found in reality. Where there was abuse, neglect and death at Ancora, New Jersey's largest psychiatric hospital, we were told that Recovery had been implemented in all State psychiatric hospitals. Where approximately half of the over 2,000 persons in our State psychiatric hospitals remain there for want of housing in the community, we were told that the State hopes to address this longstanding issue in its entirety by ...... 2014. Where we were told that the State was changing the culture at our psychiatric hospitals, we find that the individual who led Ancora is now in charge of investigating the same "incidents."

Representations and reality are not necessarily one in the same. Does the State Division of Mental Health believe its representations to the extent that it can no longer appreciate reality?

You're lucky, Liz--you're in Pennsylvania. I live IN New Jersey, and yes, it seems at times this kind of shit could happen only here. It's grotesque. If you fuck up your job you get fired, except in public sector Jersey, where you get a promotion. Who are this lady's special friends and what was she doing to get herself off the hook and into the back seat of the big limo? I've become sensitized to the nasty image of a woman trading sexual favors for preferment on the job, but this IS New Jersey and once you're gotten past Carla Katz, everything is fair game.

'Outrageous' indeed. I think they should not only reverse the hiring, but demote whoever made the hiring decision.
