Perhaps it’s because Tinsel the hamster wasn’t hi-res enough when he originally appeared on CuteOverload.com. It certainly can’t be he wasn’t qte enough for the new C.O. calendar.

Liz Spikol was born in Philadelphia sometime in the 20th century. She started writing about her experience as a person with mental illness in 1999, while employed at Philadelphia Weekly as the paper’s managing editor. Aside from serving as that paper’s web editor, music editor, staff writer, senior editor, executive editor and a host of other random roles that she couldn’t make up her mind about, she has also worked as a Spanish teacher, as a Certified Peer Specialist during Philly’s system-wide transformation and as a communications specialist for a prison reform organization. Currently, she works at the Mental Health Association of Southeastern Pennsylvania and writes book reviews for PW. This blog — named one of the Top 10 Bipolar Blogs of 2007 and 2008 by PsychCentral — is about medications, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, OCD, PTSD, SAD (and many other acronyms), mad pride, Big Pharma, celebrities, hospitals, stigma and the recovery movement. And other stuff.

Tinsel is now my new wallpaper on my mac.
There is the intrinsic cuteness of both baby and/or small pets. Then there is the more esteemed cuteness of cute pets doing cute things. Tinsel you had the former and the more importantly the later too.
Sherby, a nine year old cat of considerable perspicacity, agrees with me so I know I must be right. (Yes Sherby, attribution for publication does afford you yet another treat. You know I’m a sucker for your cuteness in action.)
I absolutely adore that picture. It makes me really want a hamster but I don’t think they exist here in Australia – maybe they don’t have them in the southern hemisphere?
I used to have guinea pigs, which I think are similar, but I went through about 8 of them from the age of 5 to 10,and they all “ran away to the country” according to my dad.
This is a once-in-a-lifetime photo op. Priceless!
