Oh Hells, Bells 'n' Smells, my sister in ECT!

I am guessing at this point you are done with the MRI, and are now floating on an Ativan cloud.

Hopefully, the annoying song that "S" recommended has faded, along with the drum beats.

"SC" should know that open MRIs are not so accurate. So, if you're able, it is best to have a closed on administered.

Looking forward to hearing you are well, Dano.

Liz,
Why don't you go to an open MRI? Sounds like it would be worth the extra hassle.

When I have had CAT scans and MRI's, I usually just close my eyes as soon as I lie down on the mat. When the machine starts up, just listen to the thumping it makes and try to find a rhythm - imagine it being accompanied by a drum loop or something. If you're good at it, you can almost hypnotize yourself.

Another strategy is to listen to a song that always gets stuck in your head before the exam. Even if the song is annoying, you're distracted by the incredibly annoying song in your head, and you're not freaked out about the test.
