Prayers for a Journalist

Dec 1 2008 | Comments 3

So who prays out there? I don’t but I have a colleague who’s in trouble and could use your prayers or vibes or good karma chakra wheel-life or whatever you do.

Brian is kind of a hardass, so I’m hopeful that he’ll get well soon. If anyone can punch this kind of injury in the face, Brian can. Let me put it this way: A few weeks ago when I was thinking about which writer I could bring to lunch with detectives who work in Southwest Philly and have grim story pitches, I thought of Brian. He’s the sort of likeable tough guy who asks good questions and shares a few beers. One of those detectives just called me to express his concern. You meet Brian once, and you just think, “Yeah, he’s a solid guy.”

Brian and I have worked together for many years, on and off, and he’s a good guy. If he knew I was asking people for prayers, he’d probably think it was sort of goofy. But let’s all try, okay?

Brian and his family are in my thoughts and prayers.

It’s horrible to have something like this happen… I don’t know Brian, but I’m sure his “hardass” attitude will help him with this fight.

Liz,
I am so sorry to hear about your friend Brian. Please keep us posted.

I am impressed with the number of people waiting at the hospital. That certainly speaks volumes about Brian.
