Just want to thank everyone associated with getting this new blog design up and running: Kris Gale, John Titlow, Tim Gough (who designed the pretty page) and God in His everlasting goodness. This new software means your comments will post immediately, which is nice. It’s still a work in progress, especially the links page. Becca will be working on that.
Speaking of God, a guy in the subway was handing out religious material as I walked by and he said, “God is beautiful, he is merciful, he is wonderful — he got you up this morning and out of bed.” And I thought, “That son of a bitch.”

If He is so merciful, why do people get major depression, bipolar disorder or schizophrenia? Maybe I am sounding too much like Job. But I just don’t get the “merciful” part.

As for the guy in the subway, many days I would like to punch him in the mouth. But I guess I have realized that I am bipolar, I was made that way. Has it caused me pain? You bet. Has it also made me who I am? Yes.
Our priest once drew a huge circle on the white board. Then in the middle of it a little tiny circle. The tiny circle is our mind. The big circle is God’s mind. So anytime we think we understand, we probably don’t (hat tip: Father Doug)
I’m not a bible thumping kind of guy, but that tends to make sense to me.

Wait, I missed something. What did God do for your blog? I get that you’re pissed that he woke you up, but I can’t figure out what he did for your blog. Did he wake you up so you finished it?
