Liz Spikol was born in Philadelphia sometime in the 20th century. She started writing about her experience as a person with mental illness in 1999, while employed at Philadelphia Weekly as the paper’s managing editor. Aside from serving as that paper’s web editor, music editor, staff writer, senior editor, executive editor and a host of other random roles that she couldn’t make up her mind about, she has also worked as a Spanish teacher, as a Certified Peer Specialist during Philly’s system-wide transformation and as a communications specialist for a prison reform organization. Currently, she works at the Mental Health Association of Southeastern Pennsylvania and writes book reviews for PW. This blog — named one of the Top 10 Bipolar Blogs of 2007 and 2008 by PsychCentral — is about medications, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, OCD, PTSD, SAD (and many other acronyms), mad pride, Big Pharma, celebrities, hospitals, stigma and the recovery movement. And other stuff.
It’s a tough one for coming up with a compassionate response for sure
. Um. Working on it…….
HI Liz
I watched some of your youtube videos, and thats why I’m here.
It was wrong for the authorities to release the evidence against Markoff. Lets see how much is true when he goes to trial, but how can he get a fair trial now that the world knows what the authorities fed the press? This reminds me of the Charles Stewart story that unfolded here in Boston 20 yrs ago.
How can the average man dispute this ? A 2nd yr medical student one day, and an accused murderer/armed robber the next.
I roomed with 2 BU medical students and they never had any spare time. They were always studying.
On to another subject, I also had a friend who went through an ECT series. It seemed to help, but she couldn’t remember her dogs name.
Um, my dad went was a third year at Harvard medical school when one of his classmates managed to find the time to kill his wife in her bed, and hunt down her lover, and kill him as well. Where could he squeeze it into his busy schedule? Don’t be concrete.
And Charles Stewart’s brother confessed to complicity, and as an accessory to murder after the fact. So I really am not grasping what your point is.
