Poor Susan Boyle
The star of Britain’s Got Talent, who shocked the world by being ugly yet talented, is having a kind of breakdown from all the stress and pressure and media savagery. She’s in a mental health clinic now, where, her brother reports, he suggested she went to have some tea and relax. (I’ve never been in a mental health clinic in the U.S. where having tea and relaxing were on the agenda, so I’m eager to go crazy on my next trip to London.) In case you’re not familiar with Boyle’s tale, here is some info on her loss:

Judge Piers Morgan on Susan’s issues:
Questions are being asked about who is responsible for her mini breakdown. Her brother tries to explain, including his belief that she misses her cat, Pebbles:
I hope she feels better soon.

Dear Liz,
“The star of Britain’s Got Talent, who shocked the world by being ugly yet talented…” — Liz Spikol
Actually Liz, you’ve kind of shocked me even more. You being both a reporter and mental health advocate I think your choice of the word “ugly” as applied to this individual is not only extremely cruel but inappropriate as you might find some of the videos to the link listed below not only of interest but refuting your word choice.

In my opinion, there is beauty in most all of us.
Warmly,

Herb, I think you can trust Liz to have been commenting on the media while quoting their own words regarding Ms. Boyle.
tongue in cheek maybe herb? this is what all the fuss is about of course. that such a voice could come out of “that” package. then the pressure to gussy her up to make her acceptable.
Unconvenctional beauty is soul moving and an universal gift. Susan’s authenticity and rare talent will shine despite her temporary lapsus. Sheer Shame on you Spikol to label her ugly , perhaps you need to rethink your position in the public eye particularly when it concerns the advocacy for those who suffer mental distress. You trully do not deserve the public space you’ve been given.
