Yesterday Was My Birthday. I Am Next to Normal.
It feels really different being 25. I can’t imagine how an old person — like 41 — would feel.
Ahem.
This weekend I went to NYC and saw Next to Normal, a Broadway musical about a woman who’s been diagnosed with the kind of bipolar disorder I have — depressive with psychotic features. In the play, she gets ECT, as I did. Safe to say it all hit close to home, but it didn’t upset me. It was such a rockin’ score and fun good time that I really enjoyed it.

A belated Happy Birthday!! You don’t look a day over 21!
I liked the video. Losing those moments of flying is often traumatic. I guess that is the price to pay for sanity? A sad song. But really good.
Liz,
I saw it 2 weeks ago, right before the Tonys. I was crying hysterically during the ECT part, my date put his arm around me, and the woman sitting next to me offered me a Kleenex. During intermission, she told me her grandmother had ECT about the time I was born.
Hope you didn’t go to the restaurant next to the theatre. Eww.
Happy Happy Happy Birthday my friend, from me,and the fuzz ball.
As a 42 year old… I can say with experience, it isn’t any different. As Drew Remenda once said — “If you can’t stay young, stay immature.”
Happy birthday. May this be your best year yet.
And, please make some more videos.
Cheers.
I hope you had a great birthday, Liz. You deserve it.
I have three friends- all women in their early to mid forties- who are affected by bipolar disorder, anxiety disorder and depression. They aren’t as happy as they would be if they didn’t face these challenges, but they’re all within the “acceptable guidelines” for happiness, just like the rest of us.
Best of everything to you from here on, Liz.
Cancer huh? Kick ass, man.
Happy B-Day, Moon Ruler.
Happy Birthday. Same day as me! Gemini surely?
A belated Happy Birthday to you Liz.
As I read several of the astrological signs being stated I am reminded of the sign which I’m told I was born under:
“KEEP OFF THE GRASS”
Warmly,
Herb
